The website features you *actually* need for your yoga and fitness instructor website
As a yoga or fitness instructor, you might wonder, “Do I really need a website?”
Spoiler: Yes, you do. And it's not as complicated or overwhelming as it seems. While Instagram can help you build an online presence, it’s not enough if you want people to find you through search engines, book classes directly, or learn more about you and your offerings.
The short answer? A website is a must.
The long answer? Well, I’ll explain below.
What you don’t need for your yoga or fitness teacher website:
❌ A Logo
Many movement teachers get stuck because they think they need to hire a graphic designer for a logo. Here's the truth: you don’t need one! Simply typing out your name in a font you love and placing it in your site’s header is more than enough. Until you’re building a large brand—like opening a physical studio or launching a dedicated app—a logo is unnecessary. In fact, it can sometimes cheapen the authenticity of your personal classes.
❌ A Blog
Why does everyone assume they need a blog? If you’re going to write one, make sure it’s intentional, focused on SEO, and helps potential clients find you through search engines. But if SEO isn’t your primary goal, a blog is not a priority. You likely have other, easier ways to improve your site’s SEO. (P.S. Check out my Intro to SEO class for more guidance on this!)
❌ Bespoke Photography
Do you need to drop $5,000 on a professional photoshoot? No. But high-quality images of yourself and the work you do? Absolutely. If a full-on shoot is out of your budget, get professional headshots or ask studios you collaborate with for permission to use images from their photo shoots. You can also source great stock photography from platforms like Unsplash or Pexels.
For our Embody template, we’ve even curated a set of high-quality stock images that you can use right away.
What you do need for your yoga & fitness instructor website:
✅ A Booking System
If you’re teaching at studios, a simple, visual representation of your schedule with links to studio websites may be enough. But if clients book directly with you, a solid booking system is essential. I recommend Arketa, Momence, or Acuity Scheduling. These platforms offer affordable solutions for independent teachers, with tools for class schedules, membership sales, and class bookings.
Pro Tip: Make sure your booking system is embeddable in your website. Our Embody template has a dedicated area for embedding booking systems like Arketa and Momence. If you use Acuity, you can embed it directly using Squarespace’s native features.
✅ A Visual Class Schedule
Your class schedule should be clear and easy to update. A graphic representation, like a table or list, often looks better than plain text. Use Canva to create a schedule you can use across your website and social media.
The Embody template includes a Canva template to help you seamlessly integrate your schedule with your website.
✅ Client Testimonials
Social proof is key. Ask your clients for testimonials (and don’t forget to have them leave reviews on Google too!). This builds trust and helps convert site visitors into paying clients.
Pro tip: Don’t create a separate testimonials page—no one will read it! Instead, integrate testimonials throughout your homepage and service pages. Limit it to three testimonials per page for maximum impact. Our Embody template already has testimonial sections pre-designed and integrated on several pages throughout the template.
✅ Mobile-Friendly Design
Most of your clients will be checking your schedule and booking classes from their phone, so make sure your website is responsive. Always check the mobile view of your design in Squarespace—things can shift around, and you want to ensure everything looks good on smaller screens.
Our Embody template is fully responsive, so it’s mobile-friendly right out of the box!
✅ A Well-Designed Pricing Page
Pricing pages are notoriously difficult to get right. Keep your offerings (like drop-ins, class packs, and memberships) in separate sections, and make sure the prices and purchase buttons are crystal clear.
Include an FAQ section that addresses cancellation policies and what’s included in the package.

✅ Contact Information & Location
Make it easy for clients to find and contact you. If you teach in one location, include the address in your website’s footer so it’s visible on every page.
Also, provide a contact form for easy communication, and make sure your social media links and email are visible.
✅ An About Page with Credentials
Many movement teachers forget to list their credentials on their about page. Along with a brief bio and a photo, include details about your training and certifications—this helps potential clients understand your expertise and trust your skills.
Building a yoga or fitness website doesn’t have to be intimidating. You don’t need all the bells and whistles—just focus on a few key features that will help you run your business smoothly and connect with your clients.
